How to Use EFT Tapping to Clear Your Financial Fears

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Tapping changed my life.

It took a friend 2 years to get me try it and even then I was hesitant. Luckily I have persistent friends and I eventually gave in and saw the impact of EFT immediately.

What is EFT Tapping?

EFT tapping is acupuncture without needles.

It combines Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) with needle free acupuncture by using your fingers to tap on the meridian points on your face, hands and upper body.

EFT can be used for anything – physical pain, emotional stress and even financial problems.

Start off by bringing your attention to whatever issue is causing you stress at this moment and you describe it as you tap on the meridian points.

Unlike positive affirmations where you’re focused on the positive and ignoring the negative, EFT tapping brings you face to face with the negative issue so you can experience it and release it from your nervous system.

Until you face the negative emotions and feel them in your body, they’ll always be under the surface, driving your behaviour.

EFT Tapping is a technique that links the mind and the body.

Start off by focusing the statement on the stressor during the first round, as you rap focus on how this statement feels in your body and keep tapping, which helps you to see the mind body connection and heal not just mentally but physically as well.

So how do you do EFT Tapping?

Below is an example of EFT Tapping, by Jade Barbee, who's a coach that I partnered with to create a writers block course using EFT Tapping.

EFT Tapping for your finances

What’s upsetting you right now about money?

Step 1: Notice any tension, pain, memory or craving you’re experiencing when you think of money. Give it a name. Be specific and get as detailed as you can. For example:  “I just can’t make any money,” “Deep frustration about my financial situation” etc.

Step 2: Write this one statement down on a piece of paper. Precede it with the phrase: “Even though I…” and close it with a positive statement: “I deeply and completely accept myself/ this.”

For example: Even though I just can’t make money, I deeply completely accept myself”

This is your set up statement because it describes the issue you are struggling with.

Step 3: Notice how intense (emotionally and physically) the set up statement feels to you.

What’s the intensity of this issue on a scale of 0 (lowest) to 10 (highest)?

Write down a number.

Step 4: Speak your set up statement out loud, three times, as you use 2 fingers (middle and index finger) of any hand you choose to tap the Karate Chop Point of your other hand (Side of the Hand where you would do a karate chop) or rub the Sore Spot as you say the balancing statement out loud 3 times. See the image for the Karate Chop Point (KC).

Step 5: Continue to tap through the 9 points depicted in the image below as you talk about your issue and the emotions it brings up:

So using my statement:

EB (Eyebrow): “I just can’t make money”

SE (Side of the Eye):  “I just can’t make money”

UE (Under Eye): “I just can’t make money”

UN (Under Nose): “I just can’t make money”

CH (Chin): “I just can’t make money”

CB (Collar Bone): “I just can’t make money”

UA (Under Arm): “I just can’t make money”

TOH (Top of Head): “I just can’t make money”

Step 6: Now take a deep breath. You've just finished round 1.

How does your problem feel?

Focus on your physical and emotional reactions to your thoughts about the problem.

On a scale of 0 to 10 how intense is this belief or problem?

What physical sensations or emotions come up?

Write them down and tap on them as well.

Do another round of EFT Tapping and keep tapping until the intensity levels of the original statement drop below 4.
