A while back, I had the pleasure of being invited to the Power Up Podcast where I was invited to talk about my experiences as an entrepreneur and nomad and how I have been able to create this life of constant travel and movement from country to country.
For years, my natural instinct when it came to money, especially having money in the bank or making money, was to run as far and as fast as possible.
And I did this for years and I prayed that somehow if I worked hard enough and did enough affirmations, my money situation would change and my relationship with money would change.
I need the industry to stop pushing this idea of working 16 hour days building businesses, because “if you truly wanted it, you would work even harder.”
I bought into this belief and my nervous system went bezerk because it didn't feel safe. My depression worsened and all I wanted was to take my life 80% of the time.
Every so often on social media the topic of girlfriend allowance comes up and I want to chip in on this.
I’ve had a girlfriend allowance. In fact I have at one point in my life held onto a man's bank cards and credit cards and had access to all his bankers in case I needed something, if he was out of town.
I really have been doing all the ish I do (including traveling and living all over the world) with just cash. I have no credit card or personal loans. I don't owe family and friends money.
When I am super honest I tried to do all those things that we were taught we should do. I just failed at them, and there was so much shame that I carried around that.
