Jobs that pay you a good salary for doing good

Collaborative Post

Some of us have a calling to do work that helps the world. A lot of times that kind of job does not come with a huge payday and we feel torn between following our passion or doing work that will pay us a decent living wage. Here are just a few jobs that pay you for doing good:

Nursing

I think Covid has shown us how important nurses and doctors are to any society. In South Africa nurses are not always paid well, but in other parts of the world like the Middle East and the USA, nurses are paid a good salary.

Nurses are the caregivers in any medical situation and that makes people feel good. Nurses get to know their patients and they form bonds with them that are built on trust. Nurses are there to hold a patient’s hand and to reinforce that everything is going to be alright.

Along with having vast medical knowledge, you will be the person that patients turn to in their darkest hour when they are afraid. They turn to you because of your ability to have compassion and show love.

Lawyer

Lawyers get a really bad rep and I wasn’t sure if I wanted to even mention this profession.

But the truth is there are lawyers who practice law that help people find justice - adoption lawyers, family lawyers, labor lawyers, medical malpractice lawyers and personal injury attorneys.

Each one of these lawyers helps those who’ve been hurt or are in bad situations get to a better place in their life and you can get paid well as a lawyer.

Grant Writer

Grant writing is difficult and requires you to know a lot about organizations, the law and how money works but it also pays well.

If you can hone your skill for grant writing, you can make a lot of money while helping organizations find the resources they need in order to continue doing the great work they’ve been doing for the world.

Grant writing mostly helps the arts community find ways to sustain themselves financially while producing and creating work that inspires the world and changes the world. A lot of times, the arts is the last industry to see help, but as a grant writer you can give back to the world by helping in the production of groundbreaking art.

Development Director

I am often of 2 minds with non profit organizations, because some of them have some questionable leaders, but some non-profits do a lot of good and I’ve volunteered for some amazing non-profits.

Non-profit organizations need to raise money in order to survive. A lot of nonprofits are in the arts sector, helping the environment, and helping animals. If you have a job as a director of development for one of these organizations, you can earn a great payday while helping the world.

You can help find donors who care about the cause and want to do their part to support the ongoing efforts of your organization. By having these generous donors on your list, you can do your part to help the world be better and survive longer.

I know there are a ton of jobs that pay you a good salary and still allow you to do good in the world. Let me know what other jobs you can think of.
